I recently received treatment in the Accident & Emergency Department following a fall. Overall the treatment was good, however it was let down by lack of communication between staff and also lack of communication between staff and patient. The initial triage was efficient and also the initial diagnosis and treatment, but failure in communication between the staff conducting the initial assessment and the x-ray department resulted in myself waiting unnecessarily for some 30 minutes in a wrong area. Furthermore, following an x-ray I waited on my own in an area and was not sure whether any staff was aware of my presence. Eventually I had to go and find a staff member to determine whether or not it was known that I had completed by x-ray. I was told that the doctor attending me had been called away and that he would return shortly, which I had no problem with. I could accept that there was more urgent cases than myself to be dealt with, but I felt that improvements could be made in communication between staff and patient.
My son is in ward 6 I thank all the staff they are all great and wonderful they respect everyone I do not know how much to thank them I have never seen a great team of nurses of ward 6 you are all from the sister, nurses the health care assistant and the cleaners. My son was in ward 7 for few hours I came across one of the rudest nurse I could not believe but ward 6 nurses are Angel's thanks all I appreciate every minute in ward 6. I. Spent 15 days in ward 6
Lovely staff including when bank and agency staff on duty. Caring and compassionate. Ward always clean. Personalised care, which is hard to achieve when patients not always able to communicate their needs and preferences. Staff exceeded my expectations and I have plenty of experience of many other wards in Fairfield and North Manchester. Ward clerk very helpful when I phoned for information and assistance.
Communication was good when I asked nursing and other staff but it was difficult to get a medical update on my elderly parent, it proved very hard to talk to a doctor despite asking on several occasions including when a doctor was on the ward. This is no reflection on the excellent ward staff just on doctor communication to next of kin.
My mother was taken to Fairfield from the walk in centre at Bury--she was seen by a triage nurse and was assessed really quickly. The hospital was so busy but the staff were amazing, very patient and compassionate. My mother had a heart attack and had stents put in the day after at Wythenshawe and was home the day after that.
The staff were a credit to the NHS and should be valued more by the government.
I had had a heart attack and it was so busy at A&E. The staff were amazing--caring and compassionate, despite being so busy. All staff were a credit to the NHS
I would just like to say a big thank to all the staff on the Integrated Cardiology unit and the staff in the operating theatre for their dedicated care and professionalism during my visit there. From start to finish they kept me informed of what was happening and ensured I was comfortable throughout my experience.
The best thing about the ward is the nursing staff; they work with the minimum of fuss and the maximum of kindness. There seemed to be a good sense of community and camaraderie on the ward. Considering the unfairness in the NHS and the lack of funding, this is commendable.
The healthcare assistants too are considerate and efficient.
I like that there are lots of hand-wash dispensing machines too.
I don't like the fact that there is no toilet in the wating area of the ward or anywhere nearby and that patients and visitors often use the staff toilet.
I was in ward 18 for nearly 5 weeks and I was well looked after by all the staff. They were both caring and extremely thorough. The ward was very clean and orderly and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
ever think was good
